More Self Love – Valentine 💜
I’m so excited to share this new magical character with you! Here is my take on the Fairy Godmother archetype. She feels like a wise, starry grandmother who carries whole galaxies of kindness in her eyes. ✨
I realised I haven’t painted many older faces before, I didn`t always feel good at them and so creating her was a bit of a challenge and it also felt surprisingly moving. There can be so much beauty in the softness of older faces; the lines, the life lived. I wanted her to feel powerful, warm, and full of that gentle, cosmic “you’re safe with me, darling” energy. Like so many of our own beautiful grandmas made us feel.
It made me think about how rarely we see older women portrayed as magical, radiant, enchanting … and how deeply needed that is (Hello society erasing older women!). So here she is in all her twinkly glory. 🌙💫 How did I do? 😊
She’ll be part of our big creative journey in A Year of Magic & Fairy Tales, and I can’t wait to guide you through painting her step by step.
ps. Blues/ Lavenders/ Deep Purples seem to be my colour obsessions right now! 😉
